ACET CRASH COURSE LAUNCHED FOR 2023 EXAMINATION
The Actuarial Common Entrance Test (ACET) is an entrance exam conducted by the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) for individuals who wish to pursue their careers as an actuary. The test is meant for young and smart brains to demonstrate their mathematical, statistical, analytical, communication and logical skills
The ACET is a 3-hour, 100 marks online exam which has 70 multiple choice questions with one correct answer for each question. The test is conducted only within India and the validity of passing the test will last for 3 years from the date of declaration of results
. The test is meant for young and smart brains to demonstrate their mathematical, statistical, analytical, communication and logical skills. A candidate clearing the ACET with 50% of the marks may be good to face all challenges of passing actuarial examinations. ACET is normally conducted 2-3 times in a year. The entrance examination is conducted only within India and the validity of passing the test will last for 3 years from the date of declaration of results.
Structure of ACET Examination:
Institute of Actuaries of India had started conducting its Entrance Exam which is ACET from January 2012, examination centres are available in all major cities in India.
During COVID 19 lock down times, ACET examination was conducted in Home Based Online Format, with effect from October 2020. In future, the test may be conducted either online or off line, as appropriate.
Eligibility Criteria:-
Any candidate studying for
Students who have appeared 10+2 or an equivalent examination and waiting for the result.
A candidate who have passed 10+2 or any other higher courses/examinations.
Diploma.
Finance, or any other stream, but you have love for Mathematics and skills in Numeracy.
Mathematical Sciences: Maths, Statistics, Econometrics or any other.
Engineering.
Management.
Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant or a Company Secretary.
ACET Exam Pattern
The ACET exam consists of 70 MCQ type questions of 100 marks in total. The maximum duration of the test is 3 hours. The exam is bifurcated into 2 parts – Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 will include Mathematics, Statistics and Data Interpretation containing 55% of the questions. On the other hand, Part 2 will include English and Logical Reasoning with 45% of the questions. There will be no negative marking in this exam. The questions are of either 1, 2 or 3 marks.
ACET Syllabus
The five sections of the ACET syllabus are Mathematics, Statistics, English, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation. These sections carry a different weightage of marks and are of equal importance as they focus on varied aspects. In the ACET syllabus, the sections of Mathematics, Statistics and Data Interpretation together hold 55% of the weightage of marks whereas English and Logical Reasoning contributes to 45%. To qualify for the exam, students need to score at least 50% marks in aggregate. The section-wise bifurcation of marks is as follows:
Statistics – 30 Marks
Mathematics – 30 Marks
Data Interpretation – 15 Marks
Logical Reasoning – 10 Marks
English – 15 Marks
