COACHING FOR GATE

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an All-India examination for pursuing a postgraduate degree program in engineering (ME, M.Tech, M.S., Direct Ph.D.) from some of the premier educational institutions of the nation. The exam is conducted by a GATE committee which comprises of the faculty member from IISc, and the other seven IIT's on behalf of the National Coordinating Board (NCB), Department of Education, and the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). Some of the premier institutions that use the GATE rank are the IIT's, IISc, NIT's and meritorious students are given financial aid by the MHRD. PSU's also use the GATE rank to recruit candidates for various prestigious jobs with attractive remunerations.

Candidates can apply in only one subject out of the 23 available choices.

ELIGIBILITY

CANDIDATES WITH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATION ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPEAR THE GATE EXAMINATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after Diploma in Engineering/Technology) and those who are in the final year of such programs.

Bachelor's degree in Architecture (Five years course) and those who are in the final year.

Bachelor’s degree in a Four-year program in Science (B.S.) and those who are in the final year of such programs.

Master’s degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs.

Four-year integrated Master’s degree (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology and those in the second or higher year of such programs.

Five-year integrated Master’s degree or Dual Degree in Engineering/Technology and those in the fourth or higher year of such programs.

Five-year integrated M.Sc. or Five years integrated B.Sc./M.Sc. degree and those in the final year of such programs.

Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A of AMIE or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

EXAMINATION PATTERN

Examination of all the papers shall be conducted in ONLINE mode only (Computer Based Test)
The online examination paper will contain some questions for which numerical answers must be keyed in by the candidate using the virtual keypad.
Since a candidate is allowed to appear in ONLY ONE of the 23 papers the candidate has to make the choice of the paper he/she wishes to write carefully. It will NOT be possible to change the paper choice after online application has been submitted on the website.
Rest of the questions shall be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) types.A virtual on-screen calculator only shall be used during the examination.
The GATE examination shall be of 3 hours duration with a maximum of 100 marks.

ALL ABOUT NEGATIVE MARKING

For a wrong answer chosen for the multiple-choice questions (MCQs), there would be negative marking. For 1-mark multiple choice questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for 2-mark multiple choice questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. However, there is NO negative marking for a wrong answer in numerical answer type questions.
